I really need to be more consistent with posting to this site. It’s hard when almost every weekend we are out on a new adventure.
In June we took a 2+ week vacation for Ralph’s 50th out West. We rode close to 4,000 miles two-up on an Indian Roadmaster. We visited many national/state parks in Nevada, California, Utah, Colorado, New Mexico and Arizona.
In October we took a 2-week vacation to North Carolina. I’m in love with the Blue Ridge Parkway and the many fun roads in this beautiful state. This time we trailered both of our bikes, so I got to put more miles on mine!
In addition to these long trips, we took many weekend rides in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and New York this year. Riding, hiking and nature… I’ve taken thousands of pictures this year. Stay tuned for more details about our adventures over the next few months!
Yes! That’s right….I’ve put 6,000 miles on my bike from July 2016 through November 2016. I owe a lot of my success to Ralph. His encouragement and guidance along with his patience have put me on the right path to riding smart. I’ve overcome a few hurdles along the way, which definitely boosted my confidence level. I was just telling Ralph recently that I feel empowered when I’m riding now. A big change from just a few months ago, that’s for sure.
My first venture onto the open road was on July 2. A cruise through Chatsworth to Tuckerton and back. Nice quiet, long sweeping roads. A great first ride on my own bike with Ralph by my side on his Sportster. Since then we’ve ridden to North Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and West Virginia! The West Virginia trip was over Labor Day Weekend. We rode 1,000 miles in three days on the most technical roads so far for me.
The sky is the limit for me at this point. Ralph has created a monster. I love to ride and look forward to every trip going forward. 🙂
Well, it isn’t brand new, and it isn’t a Harley, but it’s a start. My first bike.
A 2001 Honda Shadow 600 VLX… It’s just my size and I feel very comfortable riding her. I needed a ride that I could build up my confidence with, and this is the one! 🙂 Thanks to my ever faithful boyfriend for working with me and teaching me right. Ralph you’re the greatest! Soon I’ll be cruising right along side of you. I can’t wait. xoxo
Yes, I’ve been listening. Warmer days are few and far between right now, but even still, the low raspy rumble of a rider on his/her bike is becoming more frequent. It creates a longing for Spring to arrive so we can burrow out from hibernation and ride again. Some days it feels like it isn’t coming soon enough, but I know it will be here before we know it.
Happy New Year!
Although “our ride” is all tucked in and hibernating till Spring, we had a fantastic riding season to look back on! Many miles traveled… Not only did we put over 1,600 miles on a Harley Davidson Ultra Classic rental out west, we also ventured into West Virginia, Virginia, Delaware, Pennsylvania, New York and, of course, our very own New Jersey on Ralph’s HD Super Glide. He sure can plan some great routes! Look for more posts about some of our adventures very soon.
